Women and Pornography Addiction
Do girls/women watch pornography? Can they become addicted to it?
What was once believed to be a “guy thing” has now overwhelmingly become a ‘female’ one too, thanks to the internet and it’s abundant offering of online sex images, video, apps and chat-rooms. The normalization of pornography has drawn women into this once ‘male’ domain with dire consequences.
The percentage of women who consume pornography is increasing. By the end of 2019 almost 3 out of every 10 consumers on a well-known porn platform were female. The reality is that creators of porn material have targeted female audiences for years. While the motivations or triggers can be different, a woman can become just as trapped by pornography as a man.
